Because The Saying ‘Where The Sun Don’t Shine’ Doesn’t Apply When You’re 3

November 18, 2008

Me: Why are you naked?

Her: Because I need to go to the potty.

Me: Why, then, are you just standing on the stairs?

Her: Because the toilet makes my bum cold…

(turns around to display cold bum)

… and there’s a sunbeam here…

(bends over and waggles bare bum in the stream of sunlight pouring through the landing window)

… and it warms it up.

(pats her toasted bottom proudly, and then proceeds up the stairs to the bathroom.)

You just can’t fault that logic.

    Kim @ November 18, 2008 at 2:35 pm

That there? Totally my kind of logic. I wish to have some of it myself. Works well.

    Dustin November 18, 2008 at 2:40 pm

The only response possible is, “Well, ok then, carry on!”

Immoral Matriarch November 18, 2008 at 2:45 pm

    LOL. That’s ingenious.

    KrisUnderwood November 18, 2008 at 2:46 pm

O my god. That is awesome. LOL!

    Michelle November 18, 2008 at 2:52 pm

You have one smart cookie there!

Issas Crazy World November 18, 2008 at 3:09 pm

I think I adore that kid you’ve got there. Sunbeams…love it.

    zchamu November 18, 2008 at 3:10 pm

Flawless logic, in fact. Kid’s a prodigy.

Colleen - Mommy Always Wins November 18, 2008 at 3:10 pm

Smart as a whip, that one…

Sarah Yost November 18, 2008 at 3:11 pm

think she’ll be doing that at 16?

The Mrs. November 18, 2008 at 3:11 pm

    That was great! :)

Her Bad Mother November 18, 2008 at 3:16 pm

    Sarah – if she’s doing it when she’s 16, I’ll assume that she’s not a prodigy.

    Shelli November 18, 2008 at 3:16 pm

that just made me all happy inside.

    Ilina November 18, 2008 at 3:21 pm

She has a point. If only you had a photo of that!

    Ashley November 18, 2008 at 3:26 pm

I always hate it when my bums cold.

Her Bad Mother November 18, 2008 at 3:26 pm

Ilina – I do have a photo, actually. I just wasn’t ballsy enough to post it.

    manicmanicurist November 18, 2008 at 3:39 pm

that is the cutest thing I have heard in a long time. :)

Magic Mom November 18, 2008 at 3:47 pm

Oh! If only we all took a little more time to roast our bums in a sunbeam, I think we all might be a bit more, erm, sunny? At least happier.

the MomBabe November 18, 2008 at 4:00 pm

Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha! I love little kid logic. It always makes perfect sense.

    Meredith November 18, 2008 at 4:01 pm

If we could only think this way as adults, I bet the world would be a much happier place.

Thanks for posting the antics, it made me laugh.

O'Neal (The woman in charge around here) November 18, 2008 at 4:22 pm

Mine has been freezing all day long! Man that kid is smart!

Would you tell her thanks from my neighbors? ;)

Expat Mom November 18, 2008 at 4:56 pm

That`s just entirely too funny. I love her reasoning and sunshine really is the best way to warm a cold bottom . . . not that I would know . . .

    liz November 18, 2008 at 5:44 pm

    Oh. my. stars.

That is a smart and funny little one you’ve got there.

    R November 18, 2008 at 5:52 pm

    that is so cute :)

    Robbin November 18, 2008 at 6:08 pm

I just laughed my you-guessed-it off.

As the mother of a 3.5 year old I can SO picture this.

Miss Grace November 18, 2008 at 6:12 pm

Nothing like a toasty roasty bumbum.

for a different kind of girl November 18, 2008 at 6:25 pm

With that kind of logic and straight thinking, it’s clear she’s ready to rule the world, even at the tender age of three!

Amy @ Milk Breath and Margaritas November 18, 2008 at 6:55 pm

Can’t say I blame her. Warm bums are better.

    kaila November 18, 2008 at 8:21 pm

Perhaps you need one of those fuzzy seats – just don’t let any of the men in your house use that potty – you know what with drips and spillage and all (even though they deny it)

Her Bad Mother November 18, 2008 at 8:44 pm

Kaila – but then I wouldn’t learn these amazing bum warming techniques (this evening she waggled her bum over heat register)

Mama Smurf November 18, 2008 at 9:11 pm

I think Santa should bring her a heated toilet seat.

    April November 18, 2008 at 9:20 pm

that is spectacular and why kids are worth having.

    Meli November 18, 2008 at 9:36 pm

    That’s brilliant!!

    Mimi November 18, 2008 at 9:45 pm

She’s a bum hedonist! We’ve got something really similar going on her with ‘airing it out’ …

    carrie November 18, 2008 at 9:47 pm

I love the way her mind works.

    andsolifebegins November 18, 2008 at 10:40 pm

Hope you add me as well!

    mothergoosemouse November 19, 2008 at 12:05 am

Wouldn’t we all feel better with sunny buns?

    kgirl November 19, 2008 at 12:09 am

    Nobody likes a cold ass, C ;)

    Heather November 19, 2008 at 12:19 am

I love it. No faulting that logic at all.

    Rachael November 19, 2008 at 1:16 am

I can’t argue with warming up the cheeks a little…

    Dana November 19, 2008 at 1:25 am

Oh, that darling girl just makes me giggle with her cuteness! Where do they come up with this stuff?

While watching Dancing With the Stars tonight, Dawson tells me how much he loves Julianne Hough (one of the dancers). I asked him why and he said, “Duh, Mumma. ‘Cause she’s cute!” He’s four. I’m doomed.

Parent Club November 19, 2008 at 9:46 am

It’s just makes sense! What a practical child.

    LAVANDULA November 19, 2008 at 11:58 am

aww shes so smart that wonderbaby and really who doesn’t like sunbeams warming up their bottoms?

    marlene November 19, 2008 at 12:52 pm

Momo Fali November 19, 2008 at 1:00 pm

I did that in my bay window once. Then I was arrested.

    geelizzie November 19, 2008 at 4:07 pm

    makes sense to me!
