My heart is rejoicing with you because, woman, my one-month-old slept 4 hours straight last night! 4 hours!!!! That’s the most I’ve slept since October.
My braaaaiiiinnnn is aliiive with the sound of… well, the lack of the sound of the usual demons that sneak in on the Sleep Deprivation Train.
oh snap. i wondered how such simple things as sleeping a full night become so valuable before knocking up my wife so many times…
now id take sleep over sex or money or a new car or cool gadgets or even food.
How awesome for you, and have no fear even if it doesn’t happen 2 nights in a row (but I’m sure it will!) the good news is, once it happens once usually it will start happening more frequently till it is a regular thing. In my experience anyway! GOOD LUCK
So happy for you. I remember when Mini Me actually slept the whole night and I was able to actually function like a normal person. Well, as normal as you can be with three kids and one lone braincell. And really, it is so amazing what the brain is able to do with just a little bit of sleep. Maybe, just maybe, if you bribe the sleep gods with say cookies…or wine…there will be a repeat tonight. Sending lots of sleepy nighttime thoughts your way. Woo hoo! That is MAJOR cause to celebrate–especially considering the full moon. Is your coffee spiked this morning?
I was wondering, just last night at 3am, if my kiddo is ever going to do the same. I have a theory about “things that rhyme with minx” but I won’t share them here since it doesn’t bode in your favor. But I’m celebrating for you as I down my third cup of coffee! Mama Mary´s last blog ..too close a call for mama
Hooray! Congratulations! Even if it doesn’t happen again tonight, I bet it won’t be long before it becomes the new normal.
Thought of you in the wee hours as we are currently re-training our 2 year-old to sleep through the night. Champion sleeper suddenly finds bedtime inacceptable and that 4:45am is a good time to wake up. Huh? Wha? Working on breaking this cycle ASAP as my kiddo is as stubborn as they come. So far doing OK thanks to good earplugs. And a plan that husband and I both agree on.
Anyway, good for you guys. Next step: Mama gets some sleep, too! Theresa´s last blog ..Hit Parade
Oh, Sweet Jesus! You shall have hairs left on your head! I can see it now – tonight you will be trooping around the house in your bathrobe, holding a glass of wine and humming “Mr. Sandman” with a giddy look on your face!
I just cannot express how happy I am that you got a peaceful night (I hope YOU slept all night long too!) My heart (and scalp) have been sching in sympathy for you. Daffodil Campbell´s last blog ..It’s 5 o’clock somewhere
It’s a step. If it doesn’t happen tonight, it’s not failure. We know now that he can do it.
Try to remember this when he’s a surly teen who wants to sleep/hang around in his own darkened room at all times he’s not actively forced to come out into the light.
When my daughter finally (FINALLY!) started sleeping all night occasionally at around 14 months, I would do a song and dance routine with her each morning she slept through. I’d scoop her up and do a little dance and sing:
Phoebe slept all night long
Phoebe slept all night long
Everyone’s so happy
‘Cause Phoebe slept all night long!
I totally understand the jubilation you feel today.
The best thing about this? Is that you know he CAN do it. So if you ever decide to try again to break him of his hair fetish, you know he CAN do it. Not that you will decide that, but knowing that our son COULD sleep through the night gave me a certain amount of confidence when we sleep trained him (who is now 6.5 and sleeps beautifully). He had done it before and I knew he could do it again. And he did. It about killed me, but after 9 mos of sleep deprivation and PPD, I was about to literally lose my mind, so we went the sleep training route. I was lucky that it worked with him. I am rambling.
And yes, it will take time for you to be able to sleep through the night. Ambien worked for me with less hangover than Ativan gave me.
Also pass the champagne. Then give your hair a nice, rewarding conditioning treatment. Kate@And Then I Was a Mom´s last blog ..See? I am TELLING you something.
