In Which I Shamelessly Embrace My Blog As An Alternative To Baby Books…

June 22, 2008

… and, instead of composing a post with actual thoughts and ideas, I simply document a completely insignificant but nonetheless memorable milestone in my daughter’s life: the first real (i.e. not performed by Mommy in the kitchen with a pair of cuticle scissors) haircut.

My beauty, all the more lovely for a cheeky smile, a neatly trimmed bang, and timely mullet removal.

Cute pictures!!! She looks so very grown up with her new haircut.

    kittenpie June 23, 2008 at 1:42 am

How did I not notice it was getting so long? Wow. and um, I still cut Pumpkinpie’s myself… ahem.

and may I add – man, does she ever have your mouth/smile in that last picture!

    JanMary June 23, 2008 at 1:48 am

Embrace those roots! These moments are very special.

    Rachael June 23, 2008 at 1:51 am

That last picture is totally adorable!

    OvaGirl June 23, 2008 at 1:51 am

And she looks so worried at first…

Black Hockey Jesus June 23, 2008 at 2:06 am

That last pic is so new haircut pride. Nice.

    jess June 23, 2008 at 2:15 am

    Aaahhh, she’s so cute!!!!!

    Mimi June 23, 2008 at 2:33 am

urrr, did you just say that mommyblogging is about meaningless moments devoid of thought and careful composition? is the sleep deprivation kinda getting to you? **ouch**

(she’s cute–and finally! enough hair to cut! and no one to ask you if you’re shaving it off!)

    Lady M June 23, 2008 at 3:37 am

    Absolutely beautiful.

    Sass E-mum June 23, 2008 at 4:25 am

Such big blue eyes. How I love a sassy fringe. Bangs. Whatever.

    She is so cool.

    superrelish June 23, 2008 at 7:37 am

Great photos, mommyblogging is the perfect way to remember all the important dates.
I waited until girl-childs third birthday for her first haircut, of course I blogged that moment too!.

    wright June 23, 2008 at 7:55 am

Look at that sweet, sweet smile!

    Syko June 23, 2008 at 8:52 am

That is one gorgeous young lady!

Her Bad Mother June 23, 2008 at 9:11 am

Mimi – yeah, that came out wrong. Changing it!

Omaha Mama June 23, 2008 at 9:15 am

I love first haircut pictures! The concern, the furrowed brow. She made it through without a breakdown, I’d call it a victory!

    Kyla June 23, 2008 at 9:53 am

Yeah…baby books are so 5 years ago. LOL.

    She’s a cutie.

    Jaelithe June 23, 2008 at 10:29 am

So cute! Glad she didn’t totally freak out on you like my kid did the first time he got a haircut. (And the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth times he had a haircut. He’s cool now, though. Finally realized the salon gives kids who don’t scream bloody murder more candy at the end.)

    Jessica June 23, 2008 at 10:47 am

    Adorable. What a beautiful haircut.

    MrsWaltz June 23, 2008 at 10:55 am

Awwww! Look at that cutie! And I’m so jealous — she’s got that gorgeous, sleek, straight hair with bangs. My daughter has some sort of wild sproingy frizzy thing going on. I finally broke down and gave P3 a minor trim (first one ever, at 40 months old — Daddy’s sort of a Nazi about her hair) last week (just the very ends; they were all snarly and impossible). I’m hoping we can make the leap to the real salon soon — I can’t wait for mother/daughter “spa days”!

ohh she is so sweet catherine.LAVANDULA

    Jenn June 23, 2008 at 12:06 pm

    How cute!

    Bethiclaus June 23, 2008 at 12:20 pm

She looks fabulous! I haven’t had it in me to cut Alliclaus’ hair yet, at home or in a salon, but I think it’s getting to be about time. Perhaps this will be the motivation I need. Although, let’s be honest. My laziness knows no bounds, so it’s entirely possible I’ll just sit aroung thinking about it for another year.

    geelizzie June 23, 2008 at 12:44 pm

She looks a little apprehensive in the first few photos, like ‘what is going on here?’ but looks very proud of herself in the last picture. What a sweet little face!

    Vicki June 23, 2008 at 1:49 pm

OMG!! She is so adorable!! Awesome hair cut!

I had to get Nathaniel’s hair cut when he was less than a year old because it was in his eyes. He’s had a head full of hair since he was born. His twin brother, Sebastian, hasn’t had his first hair cut yet though. I’m going to get it cut soon though. It’s finally getting long enough to start getting in his eyes so we’re going for that little adventure maybe next week. Wish us luck!!

Wonderbaby is so cute though. I just love that blonde hair!!

    kgirl June 23, 2008 at 2:30 pm

    such a big girl now!

Her Bad Mother June 23, 2008 at 2:33 pm

I don’t know that she was terrified, but she was very, very apprehensive.

The promise of ice cream afterward made it go down more easily.

    Assertagirl June 23, 2008 at 4:11 pm

What I want to know is how you managed to narrow it down to one of the reportedly 26 hair cutting salon in town?!

    The cuteness…oh, the cuteness.

    Barb @ getupandplay June 23, 2008 at 4:12 pm

Ms. Huis Herself June 23, 2008 at 4:32 pm

She definitely looks apprehensive in that second photos! But such a cutie!

(Pumpkin, who will be 4 at the end of August, is yet to have a haircut. I suppose we should someday…)

    mamatulip June 23, 2008 at 4:54 pm

I wondered if the last picture would feature a smile; she didn’t look too happy in a few of them!

She’s adorable. I LOVE her eyes.

    sweetney June 23, 2008 at 6:40 pm

she looks so much like you it frightens me a little. in a good way. oh you know what i mean, dammit.

Forever In School June 23, 2008 at 7:47 pm

How cute she is with her new haircut. She seems to be pretty happy about it!
I love your daughter’s eyes. She has the bluest blue eyes I have ever seen!

    Jenifer June 23, 2008 at 9:02 pm

Ice cream makes everything better! She looks cute as a button and holy is she getting big.

    Mom o'Bean June 23, 2008 at 9:04 pm

Your daughter has the most adorable smile! And those big blue eyes. She’s gonna be a heartbreaker for sure.

The Estrogen Files June 23, 2008 at 10:50 pm

Look at that gorgeous beaming smile!! Much better without mullet.

    justmylife June 23, 2008 at 10:58 pm
